Sony is expected to reveal its photography add-on for smart phones soon which comes in a form of bolt-on camera lenses. As rumoured earlier, the camera lens provide a versatile alternative for smart phone owners to upgrade their “camera” without changing their phones. Available in 2 models – QX10 and QX100, the lens camera is simply attached to your smart phone and connects via NFC and WiFi.

So far in earlier shots, the camera is merely bolted-on by clamping on the smart phone. New images now suggests that there will be special cases, at least for the Xperia range (as shown above0 that comes with integrated mounting point. This would provide a more sturdy attachment especially for smart phone models that doesn’t have a flat back like the Xperia ZL. If Sony plans to get this out to owners of non-Xperia smart phones, they should be making such cases for other models as well.

In addition, the new promo pics also suggests that the lens camera is able to work remotely as well which makes self-portrait shots easier. All shall be revealed this week at IFA 2013.

Head after the break for more photos of the Lens Camera in action including new press images of each model.
