This is the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids and as the name suggests, the tablet has a very specific target audience. Based on the Galaxy Tab 3, the Tab 3 Kids gets a bright yellow shell protected by an orange rubber bumper that can hopefully withstand the many drops and bumps the device will inevitably experience. As an option, Samsung also makes a matching prop stand with an integrated stylus for the device.
Being designed for kids the Tab 3 Kids get a pretty kiddish spec sheet as well. The 7-inch device comes with WiFi and Bluetooth, a 1024×600 display (about 170ppi), a 4,000mAh battery, a 3-megapixel rear camera with a 1.3-megapixel front camera and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The kids also get Android 4.1 on top of a kid specific UI skin complete with its own app store. In addition to that there’s also a Time Management feature that allow parents to set usage time limits and automatically locks the device once the usage time is up.
The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will hit Korea in early September with releases planned for China, Europe, US, Africa, South America, and South East Asia. No word on whether it will come to Malaysia but we don’t think so. Pricing details have not been released at the moment but expect it to be cheap.
