VIDEO: HTC Butterfly S Hands-on

If the HTC One’s 4.7″ screen is too small for your liking, HTC has given its 5″ Butterfly a new sequel with the HTC Butterfly S. Although it doesn’t look much different from the original Butterfly at first glance, the new Butterfly S boasts a more uprated specs and features which in some aspects superior than its current HTC One flagship.

Over at the front, it still retains the same Full HD 5.0″ Super LCD3 display that does a pixel density of 441ppi and toughen with Gorilla Glass 3. Powering the device is a much faster quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor that’s clocked at 1.9GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. As comparison, the HTC One runs on a similar processor but clocked at 1.7GHz. Unlike the HTC One, the Butterfly S comes with microSD slot to expand your storage.

The dual-stereo boom speakers on the HTC One is also found on the Butterfly S which gives the best loud speaker experience on a smart phone. Another big addition is its huge 3,200mAh battery which is a 58% increase over the original Butterfly’s limited 2,020mAh capacity. The battery life of the HTC One with its 2,300mAh capacity lasts about 13-15 hours in our heavy day to day use and looks like the Butterfly S can certainly last a full 24-hours or longer.

The only thing we disliked about the HTC Butterfly S is its rather glossy plastic finish. It doesn’t feel cheap but we would prefer if they went with a textured finish.

Head after the break for our hands-on video from the recent media event in Bangkok.
