Just as rumoured earlier, the HTC One which runs on stock Android is finally announced. It runs on a stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean without the added custom Sense UI which Android purist would appreciate. Future OS updates will be handled by Google themselves which means quicker updates to the latest versions like other Nexus devices.
The HTC One with Nexus experience will go on sale in the US through Google Play store on June 26th with the price tag of US$599. It comes with 32GB of storage with the bootloader unlocked.
Since this is a “Sense”-less device, you’ll probably lose out the fancy HTC Zoe camera features, BlinkFeed and IR Blaster on the Nexus edition. Currently as it is, the HTC One’s new Sense 5.0 is tastefully implemented with minimal fluff but runs on an slightly dated Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The only gripe we foresee on the device is the use of only 2 buttons – Home & Back. This means you’ll still see the on-screen menu button which takes up some display real estate.
It has been 3 years since HTC introduced the original Nexus One which was quite a stellar product at its time with premium build and AMOLED display. For the old Nexus One fans, time to say hello to the new One.
