Microsoft Surface RT launching in Malaysia next Thursday

The Microsoft Surface RT will be officially launched in Malaysia next Thursday, 25th April 2013. Its launch event is happening at Publika and as an early promo, the first 300 buyers will be given extra goodies worth RM300.

In terms of specs, the Surface RT comes with a 1.3GHz Quad-Core Tegra 3 processor with 2GB of RAM, 10.6″ display that pushes 1366×768 pixels resolution and a choice of either 32GB or 64GB of storage. In terms of camera, it has a 1.2MP camera for both front and back. Launched in mid-2012, has yet to make a big impact and it would be interesting to see how would Microsoft price the Surface RT officially in Malaysia. At the moment, the Surface RT is listed from RM2,299 at IPMart for a grey import model.

The Surface RT may look the same as the more expensive Surface Pro but it runs on a ARM processor with Microsoft Windows RT. The biggest difference among the two is that the RT version only allows apps from their Windows Stores while the Pro version lets you install any full fledged Windows apps.
