Acer Liquid C1 with Intel Atom processor launched at RM999

Acer Malaysia has finally launched its Liquid C1, which is the first Intel based smart phone to be launched in Asia Pacific. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which will be upgradeable to Jelly Bean.

To recap on the specs, the Liquid C1 runs on a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor and comes with a 4.3″ qHD IPS display that does 960×540 pixels resolution. Internally it has 4GB of storage which is expandable with microSD memory slot. Behind its removable back cover, the Liquid C1 is juiced up with a 2,000mAh battery and overall it weighs 140 grams with a thickness of 10mm. In the imaging department, it comes with a 8.0MP camera that shoots 5fps burst mode and over at the front there’s a VGA camera.

In our previous Liquid C1 hands-on and preview, we find that the Acer Liquid C1 is a rather decent mid range device. While the back is made of plastic, it has a nice textured back with a metallic frame around the sides.

Battery life is said to be one of the key strengths of the Liquid C1 with efficient power usage coupled with a 2,000mAh battery which is rather generous for a smart phone at just RM999. If you’re looking for a smart phone below RM1,000, a decent display and a large battery, the Acer Liquid C1 seems to be a compelling choice. In terms of UI, it is comes with the plain vanilla Android interface with additional widgets thrown in by Acer.

Acer has also introduced a Try Before You Buy program that lets you evaluate the Liquid C1 before committing your purchase. You would need to make full payment of RM999 upfront and you’ll be given 3 days with a loaner unit. If you’re satisfied, just return the loan unit for a brand new one after 3 days.

If you haven’t seen it yet, check out our earlier hands-on view from MWC 2013 here.
