The Android logo we know today has quite a large fan base thanks for the most part to the Android OS dominant position in the mobile space. The cheeky little Android is also famous because of its likable and playful appearance.
But did the jolly green robot started off jolly?
While clearing out his NAS, Android engineer Dan Morrill shared a picture set of these characters he created to add some “eye candy” into his presentation way back in 2007. Dan tells his “Dandroids” were quite well received by the team and was unofficially one of the earliest proposed designs for an Android mascot. That was until a designer by the name of Irina Blok revealed her version – the Bugdroid that we all know today.
We’re so very thankful that these didn’t make the cut. What do you think?
