While people normally conduct drop tests to demonstrate durability, obviously that doesn’t represent real world usage. Samsung has just released a video demonstrating the type of tests they have conducted on its products including the Samsung Galaxy S III.
To demonstrate prolong usage, they have simulated several rounds of repeated pressing on the home button and even include a physical stress on the body which is simulated with a virtual buttocks sitting on screen. Next, the device is also subject to scratch test and a light shower for a slightly more extreme scenario. While it is good to know that the Galaxy S III can handle typical real-life abuses, it still feels rather plasticky compared to its rivals that uses more premium materials. Hopefully the upcoming sequel would change all that.
