The pictures you see here are purported to be that of the upcoming iPad mini. Coming from the timeline of Sonny Dickson, a researcher for 9to5Mac, a leading Apple-centric website, there’s reason to believe that these pictures are indeed showing the real deal – but – don’t take this as official just yet.
Typical of Apple launches, not much is known about the iPad mini but from the pictures we can see that the device sports some of the design elements seen in the iPhone 5. The new Lightning connector can also be seen making an appearance for the first time on an iPad. We can also see that the smaller iPad is considerably thicker than the iPad 3 with a more rounded and less tapered profile.
Apple is expected to send out media invites for the unveiling event for the new iPad soon (read, 10 October US time). Many are saying the iPad mini will make its debut this month.
