The Huawei Ascend P1 is Coming to Malaysia

UPDATE: The Huawei Ascend P1 is priced at RM1,299 with pre-orders starting at RM1,199 online. Thanks to wear for the heads up in the comments.

Huawei has confirmed that the Ascend P1 is coming to Malaysia and has set September 6 to launch the device here.

The Ascend P1, comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD Gorilla Glass display (960×540 resolution, 256ppi), a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP 4460 processor with 1GB of RAM and micro SD support. In the imaging department, you get a back-lit 8MP rear camera with 1080p video and a front facing 1.3MP unit.

Interestingly Huawei also makes the Ascend P1 S which has roughly the same specifications as the Ascend P1 but is only 6.68mm thick. The Ascend P1 S is Huawei’s thinnest Android smartphone but by the looks of things that version will miss the boat to Malaysia.

No word on pricing at the moment but we’re pegging the Ascend P1 to be somewhere in the RM1.8k region or below. There are no indications of any operator plans to go along with the device either. In any case, we’ll bring you updates when the device is officially launched next week so stay tuned.
