There’s normally a negative stigma when it comes to smart phones from China. Out from the usual knock offs, there are a couple of Chinese smart phone manufacturers that are stepping out from its cheap and nasty image. Previously focused on low end models, they are now eyeing for the high end smart phone market.
One of such companies is Xiaomi and its recently announced Xiaomi Mi2 which is the first ever Android smart phone with Qualcomm’s latest quad-core Krait chipset. The APQ8064 S4 Pro processor runs at 1.5GHz which is mated with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. On board it comes with 16GB of storage and it runs on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
In terms of display, it gets a 4.3″ IPS screen with that does 1280×720, which gives a pixel density of 342ppi. Over at the back, it comes with a 8MP camera with f/2.0 which is capable of shooting 1080p videos. In terms of connectivity, it supports HSPA+ up to 42Mbps. Overall the phone is 10.2mm thick and weighs 145g.
Best part is the price of just 1,999 RMB, which is just under RM1,000. That’s tremendous value even compared to today’s dual-core smart phone offering.
