Introducing Google’s Nexus 7 tablet

The upcoming 7″ Nexus tablet was made public for a short while the start of Google I/O 2012. The device is officially called the Nexus 7 and it runs on the latest Android 4.1 Jellybean OS.

The specs are similar to what was leaked earlier. It runs on a 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra 3 processor with 1GB of RAM coupled with a 12 core Ultra low voltage nVidia GeForce GPU. In terms of display, it has a IPS display that pushes a 720p resolution of 1280×800. In terms of design, it comes with nice curves at the edges and comes with a textured grippy finish. The battery is rated at 4325mAh.

The Nexus 7 comes in 2 storage sizes of 8GB and 16GB which is reportedly priced at US$199 and US$249 respectively. Despite being a tablet, it also comes with NFC with Google Wallet support. For shutterbugs, the disappointment would be the lack of rear camera but there’s a front facing 1.2MP cam that supports 720p. Overall it weighs 340grams and has a thickness of 10.5mm.
