Motorola Getting Ready to Launch the RAZR MAXX in SEA

Good news for the many of you who have been waiting patiently for this. Motorola has been dropping some not so subtle clues on its South East Asia Facebook page that it will be making the RAZR MAXX available in the region.

So far, no dates have been revealed but judging by the frequency of the clues, we’re expecting that the launch will happen, very likely within this month, possibly this Friday or the one after, if not in early July.

The RAZR MAXX features identical hardware to the RAZR (4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced 960×540 – about 256ppi – resolution display with Gorilla Glass. 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP4430 processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. 8MP rear camera with 1080p video and a 1.3MP front camera with 720p video) but with a much larger battery 1,780mAh on the standard RAZR vs. 3,300mAh in the RAZR MAXX.

The massive 3,300mAh battery on the RAZR MAXX is rated to deliver 21 hours of talktime and 15 hours of continuous video playback or two and half days of continuous music playback. To accommodate the battery, the RAZR MAXX is slightly thicker at 8.99mm compared to the RAZR’s svelte 7.1mm body.

In terms of pricing, we have no details on that yet but expect Motorola to deliver great value on this one with a price range that shouldn’t go beyond RM1,800.

With the large battery and that sleek RAZR design with the real Kevlar backplate, the RAZR MAXX has a lot going for it and very little against. We’d go so far to say that the Motorola RAZR is one of the most underrated Android smartphones in the market right now. The only issue we have with the device is its camera performance which is not quite up to par with its direct competitors but even so, you can be sure that the RAZR MAXX will be able to take pictures long after its competitors run out of juice. And if you’re a user that’s looking for stamina over picture quality, there’s really nothing else in the market.

We’ll keep you updated once we get word on when the RAZR MAXX will be coming to Malaysia.
