Several ding dongs & leaks later, Samsung has finally announced its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy S II. The announcement came from Samsung Mobile itself and the roll out starts in Europe including Poland, Hungary & Sweden as well as Korea beginning today 13th March 2012. The rest of the countries will be getting it later by phases.
Other devices that will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich later on would include Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
For older devices such as the original Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S Plus and the recent Galaxy W, they won’t be getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Instead they will be getting an upgraded Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware which comes with additional new features such as Face Unlock. This is likely to be the value pack firmware which was teased earlier on.
