Samsung announces the Galaxy Ace Plus

The Galaxy Ace is arguably one of Samsung’s more popular Android devices offering great value for money that strikes a good balance between affordability and performance. Samsung’s got a great recipe for success with the Galaxy Ace and that is set to continue with the announcement of the Galaxy Ace Plus.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is the successor to Galaxy Ace, fronting a refreshed design and an uprated spec sheet that includes a slightly larger 3.65-inch HVGA 320×480 resolution display (3.5-inch on the original Galaxy Ace, resolution is the same) and a more current 1GHz single-core processor with 512MB RAM (800Mhz and 278MB RAM in original Galaxy Ace). The Ace Plus runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and there’s no word if it will receive an update to Ice Cream Sandwich.

No word on Malaysian availability either but we suspect the Ace Plus will be available here soon enough to replace the Galaxy Ace that’s close to being a year old now since it was launched in February last year. Expect the price of the Ace Plus to remain the same when it does get here. That’s about RM800 or less.

Here’s the full rundown of the vital specs:
1GHz single-core processor with 512MB RAM
3GB of internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 32GB) — original Galaxy Ace has 2GB of on board memory
7.2Mbps HSDPA — same with the original Galaxy Ace
5MP with LED flash (480p video at 30fps) – same with the original Galaxy Ace
1,300mAh battery – slightly smaller, the original Galaxy Ace came with 1,350mAh battery

One more picture of the device after the jump.
