While mobile device makers outdo each other with high end models, there’s always a market for mid-tier devices. There are people that won’t want to invest too much on a phone but yet requires smart phone features to stay connected. Lately we are seeing more Android phones with prices below RM1000 entering segments that once considered safe zone for featured phones. Just recently IMCC, a local retailer has announced 2 new Motorola Android devices below RM1000 mark – Motorola Fire and Motorola Fire XT.
The Motorola Fire priced at RM699 is an entry-level Android smart phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It runs on a Qualcomm 600MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM with storage expandable with microSD. Above the keyboard, the Fire has a capacitive 2.8″ TFT display which does a rather low 320×240 QVGA display. Although the specs are entry level, the Motorola Fire runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. At the back it has a 3.15MP camera and is powered with a 1420mAh battery.
The next device Motorola Fire XT is a full touch screen Android device which is priced at a mid-ranged RM899. It has a modest Qualcomm 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM. Over at the front, it has a 3.5″ HVGA screen which pushes 480×320 resolution. In terms of imaging, it has a 5MP shooter at the back and a front facing VGA camera. The Fire XT comes with a 1540mAh battery and it also runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
