About 6 months ago, Lenovo Malaysia has announced that 2 Android tablets will be coming our way. The IdeaPad K1 was launched in Malaysia few months ago at RM1,499 but that didn’t created as much impact as the Galaxy Tab 10.1. The next device that is more anticipated is the ThinkPad tablet, which features a more business look from the iconic ThinkPad line of business laptops.
So far there hasn’t been any news about it until recently someone had spotted a newspaper ad which Lenovo seems to be clueless about. The ad reveals the ThinkPad Tablet price starting from RM2,199 for the 32GB version and there’s also a 64GB version as well. The person that spotted it tried to get more details from the retailers but none of them are aware of such device. On the facebook page, Lenovo later clarified that the ThinkPad tablets are on their way into Malaysia and should be available in mid-January 2012.
For RM2,199, that’s quite a lot to ask for considering Ice Cream Sandwich tablets like the ASUS Transformer Prime are on their way as well. However the ThinkPad tablet offers a wide variety of ports such as full sized USB port, mini-USB, mini-HDMI output and a full sized SD card slot. In terms of internal hardware, it runs on 1.0 GHz Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 5MP camera and front facing 2MP camera.
Is there anyone waiting for the ThinkPad tablet? IMCC has already listed the product at RM2,199 on their site but didn’t provide much details of the specification just yet.
