The Galaxy Nexus has arrived in Malaysia

UPDATE: Samsung hints Galaxy Nexus will be coming in January 2012.

We know a lot of you have been waiting for this for a long time. Yes, the Galaxy Nexus is indeed here, you can actually go to a few shops around town to get one but unfortunately, you’ll be purchasing a grey import. Grey import units are original, no doubt about that but they are not backed by a Samsung warranty so you need to take note of that.

Still, if you want to be among the very few Malaysian to own the latest Google Nexus device, going down the grey import route is something you can consider. Granted, the pricing is dearer that would pay if the unit is officially released here (cheapest we saw for the Galaxy Nexus is RM2,388. We pegged the official pricing for the device when it is launched here at no more than RM2,000). The premium is relatively ok considering that grey import iPhone 4S used to sell for around RM3,000 to RM3,500.

If you’re interested, here are a few places where you can get the Galaxy Nexus in Malaysia. Once again we would like to remind you that these are grey imports and they won’t come with Samsung warranty. Buyer beware.

Still on the topic of the Galaxy Nexus in Malaysia, most want to know when the official launch happen. Frankly speaking we have no indication from Samsung as to when the Galaxy Nexus will launch in Malaysia. We were told by Samsung Malaysia that it will be in December, this was echoed on Samsung Malaysia’s Facebook page as well but as we approach closer and closer to the holiday period, the likelihood of this happening diminishes.

While the Galaxy Nexus is indeed coming to Malaysia, it’s looking almost certain that it won’t be happening in December 2011.
