Update: U Mobile offers free data and SMS for all subscribers

Update: U Mobile has put up an FAQ page to answers some questions that subscribers may have with regards to claiming their free data and SMS. Link to the FAQ page here.

In apology to the nationwide network outage suffered by U Mobile recently, the operator is offering free mobile data and SMS to all its subscribers.

Specifically, all prepaid and post-paid U Mobile subscribers will get free SMS to all local operators all day on 10 November, 10 December, and 10 January 2012. In addition, U Mobile’s monthly data package subscribers will receive free 500MB monthly from 10 November to the end of January 2012.

U Mobile is certainly doing a commendable job in making amends to ts subscribers for the network outage but it goes without saying that operators rarely get a second chance when it comes to things like this. While this is not the first network outage suffered by the operator, let’s hope Dr. Heerjee will make this the last.
