US outright iPhone 4S pricing revealed and likely Malaysian pricing

UPDATE: iPhone 4S Malaysia launch happening this 16th December. Maxis starts registration of interest.

With the iPhone 4S revealed, many are wondering what would the price be. In the US, Apple has revealed its outright pricing as follows:

$649 – iPhone 4S 16GB
$749 – iPhone 4S 32GB
$849 – iPhone 4S 64GB

While iPhone 4S is designed to work on both GSM/CDMA network, these outright devices will only work on GSM networks. We are not too sure if this is a different hardware or they are restricted by software.

Head after the break for our Malaysian pricing predictions.

Over the years with each iPhone release, the outright pricing gets cheaper by several hundred Ringgit. We have listed out the launch pricing of the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4. Based on the current currency rate of RM3.15 to a US Dollar, it is likely that the iPhone 4S 16GB will be priced around RM2000-RM2099.

These are estimates based on the US outright pricing and there other factors to consider as well, such as shipping and tax. Obviously it will be cheaper to own if it was tied with contract. With all big 3 telcos – Maxis, DiGi and Celcom offering the iPhone 4, we would expect competitive offers when the iPhone 4S reaches here.

So when can we get one officially? We are expecting for it in the coming months.
