Motorola is now planning to release the successor to its Atrix flagship Android smartphone. The Atrix 2, as it is most probably be called, will feature 4.3-inch qHD display, an 8 megapixel AF cam with single LED flash, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board storage with expansion to a total of 40GB with a 2GB microSD card included in box.
Along with the new Atrix comes a newly-designed Lapdock, but from what we’ve there are no features. Though the size of the Lapdock has been reduced from a 11.6-inch screen on the original to a 10.1-inch unit.
Another notable difference between the older Lapdock and the new design is the way the phone is connected to it. The new Lapdock connects to the Atrix 2 with a cable rather that a form-fitting recess. This connection method will give the Lapdock compatibility with other supported Motorola devices.
No word on pricing and release date. The original Atrix was and still is a vastly talented device but it didn’t exactly fly off the shelves here in Malaysia. A lackluster marketing effort is much to blame for this and we hope that when the new Atrix hits Malaysia, Motorola Malaysia would’ve learnt a thing or two to not just depend on a the device’s reputation to make the sale.
One more picture of the Atrix 2 after the jump.
