HTC has just officially announced the HTC Rhyme, it’s first female-centric Android smartphone. The official announcement confirmed an earlier leak speculating on the specs of the device. The Rhyme features a 3.7-inch WVGA Super LCD display, a 5MP main camera with LED and a 1Ghz single-core processor with 768MB of RAM. Along with that, you get Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the latest HTC Sense 3.5 UI skin on top.
In addition, the HTC Rhyme also comes complete with a wireless light-up “charm” that glows to notify owners of incoming calls and messages.
The midrange device will go on sale on September 29 in the US for US$199.99 (on contract) and is expected to hit Asia sometime in October. Specs-wise, the HTC Rhyme brings nothing new but the emphasis on creating a device designed primarily for women can serve as an attractive selling point when there’s really nothing much separating one Android device from another.
All the promo videos of the HTC Rhyme and one more picture after the jump. If you’re wondering, officially, the colour on the HTC Rhyme is known as “plum”.
