RM999 for Galaxy Tab 7 with U Mobile Broadband

U Mobile is offering the evergreen Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 for as low as RM999 when you sign-up for its U Mobile Broadband plan (either the UB68 or UB128) with 18-months contract.

If you’re interested in signing up for this plan, here are some points to note.

  1. Upfront payment is required on top of the price you’re paying for the device. 4 months for MB128 (RM512), 6 months for MB68 (RM408)
  2. U Mobile is offering the same device for as low as RM399 if you sign-up for its data and voice bundle plans. Although you will be paying a slightly higher monthly commitment, signing up for a voice and data bundle makes more sense with the Galaxy Tab 7 because the device can be used for making phone calls and sending SMS. Details of the voice + data plans here
  3. The “fastest network in Malaysia of up to 42Mbps” is misleading. The Galaxy Tab 7 is not a HSPA+ device, so at best, you’re looking at 7.2MBps download speed

Having said all that, U Mobile’s broadband plan still offers great value so for those who already have a good voice plan and are looking for a good broadband plan, U Mobile should be on top of your list. Just that it’s a waste to use the Galaxy Tab 7 for data only when it is just as capable of making calls and sending text messages as well.

Note to U Mobile: Officially, is it “UMobile” (without the space) or “U Mobile” (with the space)?
