At the Sony Ericsson Global Conference in Singapore last month we noticed something missing from their new line up of Android devices — dual-core processors. None of the SE reps could give us an answer as to why this is the case but it looks like there’s no point pondering on that question any longer.
The device you see here is the first dual-core Sony Ericsson known as the Xperia Duo and this looks to be the new flagship Android from SE. The specs are mightily impressive even though they are still unconfirmed at the moment.
The Duo is rumoured to feature a 1.4MHzGHz dual-core processor from either the NovaThor A9500 or U8500 chips or the Qualcomm MSM8260 variant. Supplementing the blazing 1.4GHz dual-core chip is a whopping 1.5GB RAM. Powering this impressive processing power is a huge 2500mAh battery.
In addition, there is a 4.5-inch qHD screen enhanced with Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA engine. Imaging comes in the form of a 12MP camera.
The Xperia Duo runs Android 2.3. Launch is slated for September this year but there’s no official word from Sony Ericsson just yet.
If the current crop of Sony Ericsson Android phones are anything to go by, it looks like there is a lot to like about this new super Xperia.
