Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 browser released

Browsing full websites on mobile devices can be a pain and that’s where Opera reigns supreme as a mobile web browser. Available across multiple platforms including entry level java supported devices, Opera does a nifty job in rendering full websites for small screen and compressing them small enough for speedy and cheaper usage.

This week they have released new versions of the browsers, Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 that comes with several new features. The first noticeable difference is opening new tabs is done in the background without interrupting the page you’re viewing. Of course, this is subject to one’s preferences.

Scrolling through pages is noticably smoother than the previous version. Another neat trick is if you wanted to scroll all the way to the top or the bottom, just make a big swipe towards the direction you want and hit the big arrow button when it appears. The new release also comes with a prominent Share button which in the Android version shares the URL across your sharable apps like Facebook, Twitter, Email, SMS and etc.

For those who still doesn’t know the difference between Mini and Mobile, Opera Mini is a compact browser which renders web pages on Opera’s compression servers before loading up on your phone. This is perfect for prepaid users that are cost conscious as web pages are compressed small enough for small screen viewing. Opera Mobile however is a full fledged browser which renders on your device, but if you need compression it is also readily available by enabling Opera Turbo under settings.

To download, visit m.opera.com on your default mobile browser. Full details of Opera Mini/Mobile here.

If you’re a DiGi customer, they are doing a special promo for Opera Mini where downloads at m.opera.com is free of charge. You’ll also stand a chance to grab 1MB free Data for prepaid customers and win a HTC Mozart for sharing. More details on the DiGi Opera Mini offer here.

Check out the demo video after the break.
