Here’s an interesting snippet.

As the people of Tenang gear up to vote for their state seat official this January 30, MCA has deployed four “iPad teams” to assist campaigners on the ground to carry out tasks such as helping voters to check their polling stations during house-to-house visits in the build-up to the election.

MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr. Wee Ka Siong said that Tenang will be a testbed as to ascertain how effective the iPads along with some specifically developed apps are in assisting the campaigners. He added that for the upcoming Merlimau by-election, it is very likely that MCA will go out full force with the device.

Despite the optimism on how the iPad can increase the efficient of the party’s on ground activities, the good Datuk does have some reservations with regards to the data connectivity at the town of Labis.

“It’s very good and fast as you can immediately tell the voters where they can go to vote. The only setback is sometimes, it depends on the 3G network connection. Here in Labis, the connection is not that great but still, we can use it to assist the voters”.

It’s nice to see some of our politicians get comfortable with technology. Here’s hoping they are able to capitalise on the tech appeal to get the younger crowd exercise their right to vote. Also, if the apps are any good MCA should make available to the public, the added convenience is something, we fell, everyone can appreciate.
