Despite Sony Ericsson not confirming nor denying its existence, the PlayStation phone is looking as real as it’ll ever be and this latest round of leaked pictures and videos are revealing the most details of the Xperia Play than any of the previous leaks we’ve featured.
Specs deets on the Xperia Play:
- 1 GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 processor with 512MB RAM and 512MB on board storage
- Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU
- 4-inch LCD with 854×480 resolution
- 5 megapixel rear-facing camera (no mention of 720p video recording)
- a generous 1500 mAH battery
- Secondary noise cancellation mic
- MicroSD expansion
- Micro USB port
- Android 2.3
No dual-core processor here but the graphics performance of he Xperia Play is nothing to laugh about. The geeks that got their hands on the Xperia Play unit ran graphics performance tests and the devices churned out some very interesting numbers, clocking an impressive 59.1fps on Neocore the benchmark and an equally awesome 1,733 score on Quadrant.
Just for comparison, the PSP Go packs a 333MHz processor, 64MB RAM, and a 3.8-inch 480×272 display. Question now is, what kind of games will make it onto this not so hard-core PlayStation platform and how would the gaming experience be like? Only time (and more leaks) will reveal the Xperia Play’s secrets. Expect an official launch to happen in March.
