TIME magazine lists Samsung Galaxy S as top mobile phone for 2010

Every year, TIME magazine lists the top 10 of almost everything. In a lists of top tens in 50 categories the magazine susses out the highs and lows, the good and the bad, of the past 12 months. From top 10 albums to top 10 viral videos, the list is definitely worth a read.

In within the 50 top 10 categories is the top 10 gadgets for 2010, and the top ranking smart phone listed in in that list is one of our favourite Android phones for this year — the Samsung Galaxy S.

With its brilliant super AMOLED screen, speedy processor and awesome graphics capability the Galaxy S delivered performance a level higher than current crop of Android devices and — to a certain extent — even more than the ubiquitous iPhone.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S is listed well above the iPhone 4 which itself is listed below the Nexus One. So what does this tells us? It appears that 2010 is the year that Google’s Android becomes a legitimate contender in the mobile OS arena to formidably battle against the mighty iOS.

The question now is, will the Nexus S be able to maintain the momentum?
