Celcom Exec “I Love Weekends” Promo

Celcom Axiata is doing a weekend only promo which offers free calls and mobile internet for high usage subscribers on Celcom Exec. The weekend promo runs from Friday 00:00 midnight until Sunday 23:59 and it is valid from now until 31st January 2011. However it doesn’t really look as simple as it seems and the information on their website is overly complicated.

From what we gather from the above, the benefits only kicks in when your usage hits RM99 in that month. For that you’ll get a reduced call rate of 10.5 sen/minute to all numbers, Free calls to anyone on Celcom from Friday-Sunday, 30% off on the total monthly usage and reduced SMS rate of 8.4 sen/SMS. If your usage hits breaches RM199, all calls are FREE on Celcom. At least that’s what we could capture from Celcom as their information is very confusing. We don’t get it why they had to repeat the mention of 10.5 sen for voice calls again for usage above RM199 and they had to place the Free Internet usage under the RM199 header. Celcom really needs to look into their website presentation.

To add more into the confusion, look at the different benefits above for different scenarios. Although it seems like a good deal, we felt that Celcom is insincere in giving weekend offers as it is only eligible once your usage hits a certain amount. By the time its subscribers managed to hit that threshold it may already be close to the end of billing cycle, leaving very little opportunity to enjoy that “weekend” offer. Therefore it is misleading to claim that subscribers can enjoy this EVERY weekend as not many would spend RM99 within the first week of usage.

Since it is usage based, why not give the offer until the end of billing cycle instead of restricting it for the weekends? We love weekends but definitely hate such complications.

Full details over at Celcom Exec site here. As usual, we would advise you to take a look at the Terms and conditions.
