Update: Firefox 4 beta requires Android 2.0 and above with ARMv7 processor. Devices like HTC Aria, Hero, Legend, Wildfire and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 are not supported. Read it up here.

Mozilla has announced the availability of Firefox 4 Beta for Android and Maemo devices. This is the progression of its Fennec alpha and it is based on the same technology used in the desktop version of the browser. To download, head your Android browser to http://www.mozilla.com/m/beta. The browser is quite heavy at 12MB to download for Android.

The biggest highlight is its increase performance and responsiveness which is attributed by its architecture enhancement. The new Beta promises improved overall performance especially in scrolling, zooming and animation. To stay in sync with your desktop activity, there’s Firefox Sync for seamless experience.

Check out the intro video of the Firefox 4 Beta for mobile after the jump.
