When we first had a look at the Looxcie, we thought — “what a cool gadget!” — and indeed it is.
What is a Looxcie exactly you ask? Well, it’s a wearable video camera that’s also a Bluetooth headset. You wear the Looxcie on your ear (left or right ear, both is fine), you adjust it so that the camera is aligned at the same level as your eyes, switch it on and the device will start recording everything that you see.
The tiny camera has storage to record up 4 hours with enough juice to power the device through up to 4 hours of video recording or over 6 hours of talk time (when video recording in disabled, though you can use both functions at the same time).
It records in HVGA videos and stores it in MP4 format. The Looxcie would’ve been perfect if it was able to record in 720p. When activated, Looxcie continuous records everything you see. When you see something you want to share or keep in permanent storage, with a press of a button, the last 30 seconds of that moment is stored as a permanent clip on the device. Looxcie can upload that clip to YouTube for instant sharing as well.
To unlock the full capabilities of the Looxcie, Android users can download the Looxcie application that turns your Android phone into a viewfinder, remote control and editing tool for creating clips up to 30 minutes in length.
There’s no app for the iPhone or Nokia devices yet but the makers of Looxcie says, these will be coming soon. On top of that the Looxcie is a Bluetooth headset with active noise cancellation and digital signal processing.
