Several hours ago Nokia has announced several new smartphones – Nokia C6, Nokia C7 and the Nokia E7 at Nokia World 2010. This as an important event where Nokia showcase its latest offering in today’s smartphone arena. All 3 smartphones are running the latest Symbian^3 operating system and offers 8 Megapixel cameras with 720p HD video recording capabilities. Read on to find out more.
Nokia C6-01
The new Nokia C6-01 is the latest smartphone not to be confused with the current C6-00. This new C6-01 runs on Symbian^3 while the earlier C6-00 with a sliding QWERTY keyboard runs on Symbian S60 5th Edition.
Make no mistake, the new C6 is not a mere upgrade but packs several high end features. For starters, it comes with a 3.2″ capacitive AMOLED touch screen with 640×360 resolution and a 8 Megapixel camera assisted with dual LED flash. There’s also a front facing VGA camera for video calls. On board there’s a 340MB internal memory with expandable microSD slot that supports up to 32GB.
If you loved the HD video shooting capabilites on the N8, the C6 is also capable of recording 720p HD videos at 25fps. Connectivity wise, the C6 supports HSDPA (up to 10.2Mbps), HSUPA (up to 2.0Mbps), 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and a USB 2.0 micro USB slot. For location services, you’ll have the standard Free Ovi Maps utilising its integrated assisted GPS. The C6 is available in Black and Silver Grey. The estimated price is €260 (approx. RM1047)

Nokia C7
The next device is the C7, which looks like a slimmer version of new C6 at first glance. However the dimensions are slightly bigger as it has a bigger 3.5″ AMOLED screen that’s also capacitive with the same 640×360 resolution. In addition to that, the C7 comes with a bigger 8GB of internal storage. The rest of the specs looks fairly the same and it is equally capable of shooting 720p HD videos. It comes in 3 colours – Frosty metal, Charcoal black and Mahogany brown. The estimated price is €335 (approx. RM1349).

Nokia E7
The 3rd device is what we’re expecting the most, the new Nokia E7. This is labelled to be a worthy replacement for the E90 from the “communicator” series. At first glance, the E7 looks like a N8 on steroids with a slider keyboard but it spots a bigger 4″ AMOLED screen with the same 640×360 resolution.
The rest of the features looks similar to the N8 but being a business suited device, there are a couple of trade offs. While the N8 boasts an impressive 12 Megapixel camera, the E7 sticks to a modest 8 Megapixel with dual LED flash similar to the earlier 2 models. FM transmitter is also omitted as well.
Another surprise is the on-board Lithium Ion battery. While the 4″ AMOLED screen sucks more juice, the E7 uses the same 1200mAh battery found on the N8. Despite these differences, you’ll still get a generous 16GB storage and HDMI output found on the N8. The E7 anodised aluminium casing is available in Dark Grey, Silver White and Blue. Estimated price is €495 (approx. RM1994).
You can check out the specs of the E7 here.
It is also worth mentioning that all 3 device offers a new screen technology called ClearBlack Display (CBD) which boast better outdoor visibility. We’ll find out if this is any good later on.
