Celcom offers pre-registration for BlackBerry Torch 9800

Celcom has commenced registration of interest for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 which they claim to be the first to offer in Malaysia. To make the pre-registration more attractive, they are giving away a Jabra Bluetooth headset (worth RM125), 8GB microSD card (worth RM68) and a Energizer Portable (worth RM58) for the first 100 to register and purchase the actual device.

When Celcom claims to be the first, we got a little surprised as Maxis too had launched its pre-registration for the BlackBerry Torch last month. A quick check on Maxis site revealed that the ROI and mentions of Torch has been removed or hidden from its front page and BlackBerry section. The Maxis BlackBerry Torch ROI form however is still accessible via this direct link.

Could Maxis be giving way to Celcom to release the Torch first or the removal is purely coincidental?

Anyway, if you’re eyeing for a Torch, why not sign up for both ROI forms and see which one gives you better pricing. After all, pre-registration is not confirmation for actual purchase.
