Introducing Google Voice Actions

Google mobile has added a new feature to Google Voice Search for Android and they call it Voice Actions for Android.

Voice Actions are a series of spoken commands that let you control your phone using your voice. Call businesses and contacts, send texts and email, listen to music, browse the web, and complete common tasks, all just by speaking into your phone.

It sounds pretty awesome and the demo video looks convincing but we’ve yet to try this new feature to the fullest. If it works like Google says it does, yeah, its going to be a major convenience for those quick text reply while you’re driving (again with the driving).

Voice Action for Android is now available in the Android Market but will require Android 2.2 (Froyo). It’s pre-installed with the new Motorola Droid 2, which unfortunately, is not available here.

For the other Froyo devices that are available here like the Nexus One, you’ll need the latest version of Voice Search and Google Search widget. For the Desire and Galaxy S owners out there, sorry, you’re out of luck at the moment.

Also, Voice Actions only currently recognises U.S. English speakers, and we don’t think some of the features are fully supported here just yet.

Check out the Voice Action demo video after the jump.
