With more new Android devices making their way such as Motorola Droid X and Samsung Galaxy S, Android 2.1 Eclair has increased its numbers in the Android cake. Compared to the previous update, Android 2.1 has risen from 50% to 53.1% Also new in the chart is Android 2.2 Froyo that made its debut with 1.8%.

Note that these version figures are derived from Android Market stats which should more or less reflect the current situation. In Q3, we would expect some shake up up these version figures as more manufacturers are in the process of upgrading their current devices to Froyo. As posted earlier, HTC plans to release a Froyo upgrade for HTC Desire, Legend and Wildfire by Q3.

Here’s a chart of the historical data of Android versions to date.
