Microsoft kills the KIN

In just months after launch, Microsoft has finally pulled the plug on KIN which seems to be getting poor response. It is rumoured that only a small number of KINs – approxtimately 500 units were sold.

For those who didn’t know, KIN is a Windows Phone 7 derivative based mobile phone that’s targeted towards Social Media addicts. The concept is great and it was launched with 2 variants: KIN One and KIN Two.

In an official statement, Microsoft says that they will not launch KIN in Europe as planned earlier. However they will still continue with work with Verizon to sell existing stock. The team that worked on the KIN is to be redeployed to focus on Windows Phone 7.
