If you launch Google on your mobile browser lately, you’ll notice a link that says “Find places to watch the World Cup”. Google has introduced a new way to find places that shows the live football matches by means of Layers.
When we tried it out on a Nexus One, it does work but there isn’t many listings of World Cup viewing venues in the Klang Valley. Only 3 to be exact, namely Puzzino Swedish Pizza, the Ritz-Carlton and The Nomad Bistro.
Zooming out from Malaysia reveals more viewing venues elsewhere. Even Bangkok has more listed places than KL. This is a good feature from Google for the World Cup but definitely not much of use in Malaysia. It would be easier looking for a nearby Mamak instead.
This however doesn’t work for iPhone users, as the layer feature is lacking in iPhone’s Maps.
