Some HTC handsets released in 2010 to get Android 2.2 Froyo update

Since Froyo, Android’s latest OS version is revealed, people have started asking, when will they get it on their phones? Android is popular of having variety of OS versions in such a short period of time which poses a problem when it comes to app compatibility. The pioneer Android users are often stuck on Android 1.6 and this limits the potential of what today’s Android could offer.

HTC in the other hand had sort of answered that question to Pocket-Lint that Android handsets released this year may be getting their Android 2.2 Froyo soon but perhaps in the 2nd half of this year. Not too bad if it can happen this year as many existing handsets are only getting their 2.1 updated by then.

Details are sketchy at this moment of time but potentially HTC Legend, Desire, Incredible and EVO 4G are likely models to get the update this year.

Obviously this is a great step of allowing existing users to have room for upgrade as it can be a big turn off for buyers who are in the market for an Android device. An official upgrade announcement from HTC will be most assuring.
