Huawei’s next flagship phablet, the Mate 10, has finally gotten a confirmed launch date and venue. This will replace its current Mate 9 and Huawei’s device chief claims that it would trump Apple’s new iPhone in many aspects.
The Huawei Mate 10 will be launched in Munich, Germany on 16 October 2017. There are no product teasers yet but we do know it would be a major step up from its current flagship offering.
We recently spoke to the VP for Huawei’s handset business and he managed to share what we can expect from their new big thing. Top of the list is a more powerful 10nm based Kirin 970 processor which would put the Mate 10 on par with most Snapdragon 835 processor in terms of power. Other areas of improvement include AI, a bigger screen with a smaller footprint and better photography. You can learn more in our post here.
Compared to other smartphone makers, Huawei seems to be late for the 2nd half of 2017. Samsung is launching their Galaxy Note8 flagship next week, followed by LG and Sony at the end of this month. In September, Apple is expected to launch new iPhones including its highly anticipated all-screen iPhone 8. Nevertheless, Huawei is confident that the Mate 10 is the flagship worth waiting for and we’ll find out more in the coming months.
