Sony‘s efforts to revamp their smartphone lineup has resulted in the birth of their Xperia X series. Initially, the Japanese company started out with three devices but has since added two more to their roster. Today, three of those five new smartphones arrive on our shores — the Xperia XA, XA Ultra and X.
Revealed earlier, Sony’s Xperia X smartphone would go on sale for RM2,499 and is already up on their store. For that money, you get a 5-inch Full HD display, a Snapdragon 650 processor with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, you get a 23MP/13MP camera combo that feature Sony’s Exmor RS sensors. Keeping the lights on is a 2620 mAh battery that Sony says will last up to 2 days on a single charge.
Next comes the Xperia XA and that will be priced at RM1,199. The XA features a 5-inch HD 720P display, a MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable memory and a 2,300 mAh battery. Camera wise, it gets a watered down 13MP/8MP front/back combo.
Both the Xperia X and XA will come in four colours — White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold — and will be available nationwide beginning the 22nd of June 2016 at all Sony Mobile Stores, Sony Centres and authorised retailers.
Finally, we have the brand new Xperia XA Ultra. This massive device sports a 6-inch Full HD display, a MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. Powering it is a large modest 2,700 mAh cell that is quoted to last as long as the other two smartphones.
The XA Ultra’s key feature lies in its front-facing selfie shooter. While the back is a decent 21.5MP Exmor RS camera, the front sports a massive (for selfie cameras) 16MP selfie snapper with a dedicated LED flash, OIS and autofocus features. All those goodies will place the Xperia XA Ultra at RM1,699 and the handset will come in four colours — Graphite Black, White or Lime Gold. The Xperia XA Ultra will be available from July onwards.
