OPPO has just added a middle child to its OPPO R7 series. For those wanting more performance without the heft of the 6″ R7 Plus, meet the new OPPO R7s. Revealed in Dubai during GITEX, the R7s is OPPO’s first 4GB RAM Smart Phone and it could also be the first Snapdragon 615 based smart phone to carry this much of RAM.
In terms of positioning, the R7s sits between its current OPPO R7 and R7 Plus with a 5.5″ Full HD AMOLED display and it retains the same premium metal alloy body with a 2.5D arc edge screen design. Storage wise, it gets 32GB on-board which can be increased via microSD up to 128GB. Like the rest of its siblings, the R7s uses a hybrid 4G dual-SIM slot, where the 2nd slot can be used for either nano-SIM or microSD.
For taking pictures, it is pretty much the same as the normal R7, with a 13MP f/2.2 main camera with PDAF (Phase Detection AF) and a front facing 8MP f/2.4 shooter. Being a slightly bigger device, it also gets an upgrade with a larger 3,070mAh capacity battery that also supports VOOC Flash Charging. A quick 5 minutes charge gives you 2 hours of talk time and you can charge up the battery from 0-90% in just 50 minutes. Out of the box, the R7s runs on ColorOS 2.1 that’s based on Android 5.1 underneath.
The OPPO R7s will be sold in Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and also Malaysia in November. It will also be available in other regions including Europe and USA later in December. For more information, check out the OPPO R7s product page.
