The Apple Watch will go on sale globally on 24th April. While it is available initially at selected countries such as China, Australia, US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Hong Kong, we probably might not need to wait too long for it to arrive officially in Malaysia.
One of our readers have spotted the new Apple Watch being certified by SIRIM today which carries the number A1553 and A1554. This is definitely a sign that it is coming soon to Malaysia.
In case you’re wondering, the A1553 is likely to be the regular sized watch at 42mm and the A1554 is the smaller version for women at 38mm. The exterior dimensions isn’t the only difference here. The display on the 42mm version has a 1.5″ screen that does 390×312 pixels resolution (302ppi) while the 38mm unit has a 1.32″ display pushing 340×272 (290ppi) resolution.
Whichever size you pick, the price are same for both and the experience shouldn’t differ much unless your eyes can tell the pixel density difference of 12ppi. The Apple Watch Sports is priced at US$349 (RM1,295) for the base model with 38mm height and US$399 for the larger 42mm size. This is followed by the Apple Watch version starts from US$549 (RM2,038). For the ultra-rich, the premium Apple Watch Edition is priced starting from US$10,000 (over RM37,000) and it can go higher with more bling.
UPDATE: We went down to Sydney just to check out the entire Apple Watch collection. Check out our first impressions here.
