Apple may have sold more smartphones than Samsung has in the last quarter, but Samsung is still the king in terms of smartwatch sales.
In 2014, 89 companies sold 6.8 million smartwatches across the world, with the average price sweet spot working out at $189 (about RM 694). The Korean behemoth sold approximate 1.2 million units in 2014 alone, way ahead of competitors like Pebble and FitBit which only sold 700,000 and 600,000 smartwatches respectively. It could very well be due to Samsung’s well known aggressive marketing strategies or premium looks as the brand was one of the first to push for the luxury look and a curved screen.
It’s a bit early to say but will Apple be able to turn the tables with their new Apple Watch?
