Huawei’s updated TalkBand is definitely looking spiffy, and is a much needed upgrade to their unconventional if lackluster TalkBand B1.
The Huawei B2 looks like a smartwatch for the fashion conscious, that want a more stylish kind of smartwatch perched on their wrist and they’ve given it a few much needed tweaks as well.
The TalkBand B1 was a lot more chunky rubber than the B2, with more sophisticated angles and thinner by comparison, with a choice between black, silver or champagne gold. The first two colours come with a similar rubber strap but the champagne gold version will have a brown leather strap instead. Unlike it’s predecessor, the B2 now has a touch surface for navigation and will be able to swipe through screens to show the time, stopwatch, sleep tracker, pedometer and calorie monitoring, which essentially makes it more of a fancy fitness tracker than a smartwatch but we digress.
The earpiece has gotten a tweak too, now you can’t just pop it out direct from the case but rather you have to press two buttons to get it out, and you now have to plug your micro-USB straight into the smartwatch as they have removed the charging port on the strap. In terms of battery life the TalkBand B2 will give you about seven hours of talk time or five days as an activity tracker with Android and iOS compatibility. The TalkBand B2 will be coming to Malaysia soon, and the black and white standard versions of the smartwatch will retail for €169 (RM684) and €199 (RM805) for the premium gold version.
We are in Barcelona for MWC 2015 so stay tuned for more information as it comes.
