Photo prints are a novelty that never gets old and if you like printing photos on the go, you might want to check out the LG PD233 Pocket Photo printer. As the name suggests, the Pocket Photo is a mobile photo printer that allows you to print photos on 2×3 inch prints wireless using Bluetooth. The printer is also NFC-enabled to make pairing easy.
Measuring 72 x 120 x 24 mm and weighing in at 215 grams (about the weight of an average steak), LG says the Pocket Photo is one of the smallest and lightest mobile photo printing devices in the market.
The Pocket Photo printer is compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones but we’re not sure at the moment if the device supports Windows Phone and BlackBerry phones as well. It’s worth noting that the Pocket Photo requires you to install a dedicated Pocket Photo app on your device to be able to print pictures.
The app also allows you to edit your photos and even embed QR code on your prints (if you want to include a link to your Twitter account or Facebook page for example). You can use the printer to print customised birthday invitations, thank you cards, or even business cards with a personal QR code.
The LG Pocket Photo employs inkless printing technology from ZINK which does away with ink cartridges and in its places uses a special heat-sensitive paper. LG says the ZINK inkless printing technology preserves images longer and resists smearing smearing better.
The printer will be available by end July 2013 and will sell for RM399.
So what do we think about the device? We haven’t really tried it out but if the prints look good, a portable and easy to use printer will certainly be a fun and very useful accessory to have. The price looks good too. So this is something worth a look.
